Tees-side Model Flying Club Annual Airshow 2007

For the fourth year in succession Tees-side Model Flying Club held it's annual Airshow on June 2nd and 3rd 2007 at their Drovers Lane flying field, Redmarshal. For the second year in a row the weather was perfect sunshine with light breezes right through from the setting up on the Friday to the show closing on the Sunday night. The Major of Stockton-on-Tees opened the event and a fantastic weekend was had by all. Many model traders attended and had a great variety of bargains available and the Air Training Corps helped out getting the public and and out of the field. Let's hope next year is bigger and better again.....

The Major of Stockton-on-Tees opened the show for the crowds.

Between all the fixed wing flying helicopter Darren from Cleveland Model Helicopter Club put on displays with his Synergy N9's along with Rob, Dave & Dean of the TenZeroTen Helicopter Display Team flying their Hirobo Shuttles, JR Vibes and T-Rex 450s. They also demonstrated what fun could be had with their air combat flying wings. Look forward to seeing you guy's back here next year!

World Champion jet pilot Ali Machinchy of Al's Hobbies.com put on some amazing displays of skill flying his majestic jet turbine powered 7 meter wingspan Glider, his ballistic Oracle Raven turboprop and a superb scale 'Dirty Doris' jet fighter complete with bomb drops.

James Morris put on a superb display with his giant Pitts Challenger pumping out clouds of diesel smoke whilst prop hanging, performing perfect low rolling circles and high stall turns. The model looked awesome with the sun shining on it's chameleon paint scheme changing it from green's to purple's as it performed the aerobatics. Unfortunately the model met it's end on the Saturday afternoon whilst performing a low barrel roll which was a real shame to see.

During the lunch break on both the Saturday and Sunday the large crowds were entertained by two full size aerobatic displays with the red, white and blue Pitts Special of local pilot Peter Metcalfe and the Hawker Fury.

Replica fighter jets such as the F-15 and the Eurosport roared into the skies with their awesome sound, smell and performance from their miniature turbine jet engines burning the Jet-A1 fuel.

There was a large range of scale aircraft of all sizes on display on the flight line and in the air. The USAAF Model Aircraft Display Team Fighter Aces made an appearance putting on a great show with there low lever formation passes.
